Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Tomsk NRMC) was established in 2016 on the initiative of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FASO Russia) and with the support of the Tomsk Region Administration.
The Center was founded on the basis of the Tomsk Cancer Research Institute, which merged with four other academic medical institutions:
- Cardiology Research Institute (including its branch, the Tyumen Cardiology Center)
- Mental Health Research Institute
- Goldberg Research Institute of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine
- Research Institute of Medical Genetics
Our Mission
The primary goal of Tomsk NRMC is to drive fundamental, exploratory, and applied clinical research. We focus on uncovering the causes and development of major socially significant diseases, creating innovative medical technologies, and developing new pharmaceuticals. By leveraging our unique scientific and educational potential, we aim to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare across the Russian Federation.
History and Leadership
Tomsk NRMC officially opened on July 1, 2016. Its founding Director was Professor Evgeny L. Choynzonov, MD, PhD, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Since December 19, 2019, the Center has been headed by Professor Vadim A. Stepanov, PhD, DSc, Academician of the RAS.
